SCS is committed to making learning as accessible as possible both locally and across the globe. We are continuously expanding our list of over 540 online learning opportunities. From languages to accounting, we offer flexible learning opportunities.

Our online courses are instructor-led and delivered through the University of Toronto’s Learning Management Engine – Quercus. Quercus uses weekly, real time modules and has tools for engagement and community building. Course preparation has built in flexibility so you can read, study, and complete assignments on your own time.

You will communicate with your instructors via discussion boards and/or email. Some online courses include live, interactive webinars. If you’re unable to attend the live webinar, you will be able to view a recording of the webinar on your own schedule.

Career Wayfinding is a cohort-based three-part weekly workshop series that applies principles of design thinking to build an action plan for your career and life’s work. The workshops consist of interactive activities where you will work to gain new perspectives and interpret them in a way that can keep you motivated and inspired in your career journey. The sessions will also provide you with the tools to generate more ideas, increase creativity, and be more agile and future ready for your career journey. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to make a change, this series can help you gain clarity on where you are right now, brainstorm what steps you want to take next, and provide resources you need to become the confident navigator in your career journey. In today’s fast-moving marketplace, you need greater agility to stay ahead of change. In this course, you’ll learn how to accelerate project success using agile practices. You’ll discover new ways of organizing teams and projects that reduce waste while optimizing performance and product delivery. Among the skills you’ll develop: constructing key agile artifacts such as product backlogs and user stories; customer journey mapping; risk management, quality control and outsourcing strategies; and assessment of scaling frameworks such as SAFe and Nexus. Within 4-6 weeks of successfully completing this course, you will receive your micro-credential indicating achievement of the outlined learning outcomes and competencies/skills. Micro-credentials are tamper proof, verifiable, blockchain-based and 100% digital. They can be shared on social media, including LinkedIn and Facebook, embedded in websites or downloaded as PDFs. Discover the wondrous anatomy of the human musculoskeletal system in this exciting seven-week micro-course. You’ll get a thorough introduction to the components of the musculoskeletal system: bones, joints, muscles and neurovascular supply, with an emphasis on the upper and lower extremities. You’ll learn how these structures work in concert to move the human body and how injury can impact normal functional movement. Ideal for yoga instructors, nurses, chiropractors, massage therapists—anyone who works (or aspires to work) in health-care related fields. By the end of this course, learners will be able to: Describe how the bones, joints, muscles, nerves, and blood vessels come together to form the upper extremity Explain how those structures work in concert to move the human body Identify how injury to these structures can impact normal functional movement Competencies/skills developed in this micro course include: Communication skills in a healthcare setting Instructional skills in a healthcare setting Analytical and problem-solving skills in a movement-related setting Foundational skills in exercise design

Traditionally, the Cold War has been explored through the lens of the US-Soviet Union divide. But Canada had a role to play in crafting the critical institutions that came to define the New International Order in the immediate aftermath of the Second World War. Learn how the Cold War impacted Canada, how Canada contributed to the emerging NATO alliance, how Canada’s military protected allies around the world, how Canadian Prime Minister Louis St. Laurent reshaped the national identity, how questions of continentalism and sovereignty influenced Canadian decision makers, how the threat of nuclear attack spurred investments in the military, science and technology, and in collective defence, and finally, how these events of 70+ years ago still influence our world today. By the end of this course, you'll be able to: Examine Canadian political leadership and its global influence in the early Cold War Explore how Canada's role changed in international affairs from the Second World War to the Cold War Understand how international institutions that still exist today came to be and what role Canada had in shaping them Compare the military engagement of Canada's Cold War to today See how the legacies of the Cold War still impact Canada today
