SCS is committed to making learning as accessible as possible both locally and across the globe. We are continuously expanding our list of over 540 online learning opportunities. From languages to accounting, we offer flexible learning opportunities.

Our online courses are instructor-led and delivered through the University of Toronto’s Learning Management Engine – Quercus. Quercus uses weekly, real time modules and has tools for engagement and community building. Course preparation has built in flexibility so you can read, study, and complete assignments on your own time.

You will communicate with your instructors via discussion boards and/or email. Some online courses include live, interactive webinars. If you’re unable to attend the live webinar, you will be able to view a recording of the webinar on your own schedule.

Unlike personality tests, the CliftonStrengths assessment goes beyond general definitions of your personal traits and digs into how specific strengths can be cultivated and used to enhance your career.  This asset-based approach can empower you to understand your strengths and how to apply them to meet your personal and professional goals. Traditionally, the Cold War has been explored through the lens of the US-Soviet Union divide. But Canada had a role to play in crafting the critical institutions that came to define the New International Order in the immediate aftermath of the Second World War. Learn how the Cold War impacted Canada, how Canada contributed to the emerging NATO alliance, how Canada’s military protected allies around the world, how Canadian Prime Minister Louis St. Laurent reshaped the national identity, how questions of continentalism and sovereignty influenced Canadian decision makers, how the threat of nuclear attack spurred investments in the military, science and technology, and in collective defence, and finally, how these events of 70+ years ago still influence our world today. If you are an internationally trained nurse seeking to practice in Ontario, this dynamic eight-week online course fulfills all requirements needed to support your application. Recognized by the College of Nurses of Ontario, the course focuses on competencies related to patient safety and addresses common challenges you’ll face in practice settings. It combines self-directed module content with webinars that provide opportunities for connection with community. You’ll come away ready to meet the expectations of being a nurse within Ontario’s health care environment. This course was co-developed in collaboration with the Centre for Internationally Educated Nurses (CARE), whose deep expertise and commitment to supporting IENs helped shape the curriculum to ensure it meets the needs of diverse learners.  By the end of this course, you'll be able to: Explain the level of autonomy expected in the practice setting and the patient's right to make informed decisions about their treatments. Identify the responsibilities and expectations of being a nurse within Ontario’s health care environment.  Describe the nurse's role within the interprofessional health care team.  Apply strategies to evaluate and establish the context and duration of care with sensitivity.  Demonstrate practices that ensure patient safety and quality of care.
