SCS is committed to making learning as accessible as possible both locally and across the globe. We are continuously expanding our list of over 540 online learning opportunities. From languages to accounting, we offer flexible learning opportunities.

Our online courses are instructor-led and delivered through the University of Toronto’s Learning Management Engine – Quercus. Quercus uses weekly, real time modules and has tools for engagement and community building. Course preparation has built in flexibility so you can read, study, and complete assignments on your own time.

You will communicate with your instructors via discussion boards and/or email. Some online courses include live, interactive webinars. If you’re unable to attend the live webinar, you will be able to view a recording of the webinar on your own schedule.

If you’re looking to kickstart your career in cyber security, this course is for you. This course will build your knowledge of core principles, techniques, roles and responsibilities. You’ll learn the concepts that frame and define standards, guidelines and industry practices, including risk management and assessment principles relating to cyber security threats. You’ll define network security architecture concepts, describe threats and vulnerabilities and emerge better prepared to ensure business continuity and disaster recovery. Discover the benefits of an embodied movement practice to help participants integrate past trauma. In this course, you’ll acquire the basic tools to practice in a group with ample time for experiential learning. By combining theory and practice, you’ll gain direct experience of mindful movement practices, including Trauma-Informed Yoga and Somatic Experiencing (SETM). You'll study the impacts and neuroscience of stress and trauma so you can share gentle movement practices in a safe environment and adapt them for various populations.  Identify and explain the basic tenets of Mindful Movement.  Describe the impacts of trauma on the nervous system and the basic elements of the stress response system.  Learn and practice interoception during gentle Mindful Movement practices.   Explore how to share a simple movement practice while creating a safe as possible environment. To fight anthropogenic climate change, we must first understand its complexities and causes. In this course, you’ll explore the physical science behind climate change and its dire consequences on human and ecological systems around the world. You’ll examine and critique sustainable development approaches we can take to mitigate change and adapt to it. You’ll learn the political and social history of our responses to climate change, and explore global case studies that highlight differences in vulnerabilities and possibilities for action.   Understand the fundamentals of climate change, including the science behind it, our current knowledge regarding how human activities have altered the climate system, and outcomes for society and ecosystems. Critically assess challenges related to climate change impacts to diverse sectors such as agriculture and food security, forests, coastal and marine systems, and more, as well as the interplay between climate change and other environmental challenges, such as deforestation. Contrast the experiences and challenges faced by people and places in the Global North and Global South. Describe the need for climate change mitigation and adaptation, and the relevance of vulnerability and resilience when it comes to climate change action. Critique approaches to addressing climate change, including understanding best principles and the relationship to sustainable development.
