SCS is committed to making learning as accessible as possible both locally and across the globe. We are continuously expanding our list of over 540 online learning opportunities. From languages to accounting, we offer flexible learning opportunities.

Our online courses are instructor-led and delivered through the University of Toronto’s Learning Management Engine – Quercus. Quercus uses weekly, real time modules and has tools for engagement and community building. Course preparation has built in flexibility so you can read, study, and complete assignments on your own time.

You will communicate with your instructors via discussion boards and/or email. Some online courses include live, interactive webinars. If you’re unable to attend the live webinar, you will be able to view a recording of the webinar on your own schedule.

Traditionally, the Cold War has been explored through the lens of the US-Soviet Union divide. But Canada had a role to play in crafting the critical institutions that came to define the New International Order in the immediate aftermath of the Second World War. Learn how the Cold War impacted Canada, how Canada contributed to the emerging NATO alliance, how Canada’s military protected allies around the world, how Canadian Prime Minister Louis St. Laurent reshaped the national identity, how questions of continentalism and sovereignty influenced Canadian decision makers, how the threat of nuclear attack spurred investments in the military, science and technology, and in collective defence, and finally, how these events of 70+ years ago still influence our world today.
