SCS is committed to making learning as accessible as possible both locally and across the globe. We are continuously expanding our list of over 540 online learning opportunities. From languages to accounting, we offer flexible learning opportunities.

Our online courses are instructor-led and delivered through the University of Toronto’s Learning Management Engine – Quercus. Quercus uses weekly, real time modules and has tools for engagement and community building. Course preparation has built in flexibility so you can read, study, and complete assignments on your own time.

You will communicate with your instructors via discussion boards and/or email. Some online courses include live, interactive webinars. If you’re unable to attend the live webinar, you will be able to view a recording of the webinar on your own schedule.

Designed for people who have no previous exposure to French, this course can help if you're a traveller, a newcomer to Canada or a lover of language. You'll learn basic features such as masculine and feminine genders, the relationship between the written and spoken word and some simple phrases, basic verbs and tenses. Gain a beginner's familiarity with French to prepare you to do well in 0667 French: Level I. This course teaches both standard international French and standard Québécois French when there's a difference. To determine if French for Absolute Beginners is the right fit for you, please take a moment to complete our French Entry Level Self-Assessment. Recognize and begin to pronounce the sounds of the French language. Understand the relationship between pronunciation and the written word in French. Understand the gendered nature of French nouns. Know some essential words and phrases such as the alphabet, dates, times and some colours. Know the difference between the formal and intimate forms of address in French.

In this livestream course you'll continue to build your skills and qualifications and produce more complex translations. You'll increase the skills that will help you analyze and accurately translate documents from Spanish into English.
