Certified Records Manager (CRM)

Attaining the CRM certification builds on the successful completion of CRA exams Parts 2, 3 and 4. CRM candidates must pass Parts 1, 5 and 6 of the ICRM examination, hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning, and demonstrate one year of professional records and information management experience.

The ICRM examination:

  • Part 1 – Management Principles and the Records and Information (RIM) Program
  • Part 2 – Records and Information: Creation and Use
  • Part 3 – Records Systems, Storage and Retrieval
  • Part 4 – Records Appraisal, Retention, Protection and Disposition
  • Part 5 – Technology
  • Part 6 – Business Case (written case study)
