This certificate program provides management and leadership education and training for social workers and allied human service professionals working in human service organizations. The program supplements the education and experience social workers (BSW/MSW) and allied human service professionals have working in human service organizations, and emphasizes specialized knowledge that relates specifically to the conditions of these workplaces and their context of service delivery and innovation.
Managing human service organizations requires a professional orientation towards supporting service user outcomes. This requires the development of management and leadership competencies associated with advanced knowledge on program evaluation and social impact, allocating resources, strategic planning, shaping organizational culture, interpersonal workplace interactions (among staff and with governance boards), and managing relationships with government funders, private sector donors, other nonprofits, and for-profit firms. Together, this training supports the intellectual, interpersonal, and technical skill development needed to manage the day to day operations of a human service organization and to support future organization planning and development.
You have three years from the start date of your first course to complete the certificate.
