Why Choose CES

WHY CHOOSE CES?

The Comparative Education Service (CES) was established by the University of Toronto in 1967 and is Canada’s only university-based academic credential assessment agency. Providing over 50 years of educational expertise, CES is trusted by employers and professional agencies throughout Canada. The University of Toronto was recently ranked best university in Canada and 16th worldwide by the Times Higher Education World Reputation Rankings, setting a standard for excellence that is upheld by CES in its mission to deliver the highest quality of service to our clients.  CES assessment reports are recognized in Canada and beyond.

  • Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) (for the purpose of Canadian immigration, CES has been designated by IRCC as an approved assessment provider)
  • Government of Canada
  • Government of Ontario
  • Toronto Transit Commission (TTC)
  • Canadian Armed Forces
  • U.S. Customs and Border Protection (TN Visa)

WHAT IS IT USED FOR?

An Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) Report lists the educational credentials you have earned, and provides an expert opinion that compares them to similar credentials offered by Canadian institutions. This report gives employers, educational institutions and professional agencies confidence in the authenticity and legitimacy of the educational credentials you worked so hard to earn.

Having an ECA Report means you do not have to repeat your education in Canada. It tells employers how your credentials match up to Canadian education standards, and helps schools and colleges decide if and how you can continue your education. It can be used in some cases to obtain a licence to practice a profession, or to get certified in a particular field. In other words, an ECA Report from CES can open doors so that you can achieve your goals and reach your full potential in Canada.

CES Assessment Reports may also serve for:

  • Admission to colleges and other educational institutions.
  • Membership, licensure, or certification by professional organizations and regulatory bodies.

* We recommend that you first contact the organization you wish to approach to confirm that our educational credential assessment reports satisfy its requirements. The University of Toronto does not require an assessment of your academic credentials for admission, nor do most other universities in Canada. To find out more about admission requirements, visit the U of T undergraduate and graduate websites.
