English Language Program Students Nominated for Volunteer Award

February 11, 2014
English Language Program

The English Language Program (ELP) is thrilled to announce that its student volunteers have been nominated by the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation-Ontario Region (CBCF) for their Outstanding Volunteer Award.  The annual award recognizes volunteers who have shown a tremendous commitment to the Foundation’s mission, vision, and values.

For over five years, the ELP’s Volunteer Experience Program has been working with the Foundation to make a difference in the Toronto community.  Volunteering with the CBCF has given our students opportunities to gain valuable experience and practice their English, as well as an opportunity to see how working together can make a difference.  This past year alone, dozens of our students have volunteered at numerous CBCF events such as the CIBC Run For the Cure and GWN Dragonboat Challenge.  They have also made thousands of pink ribbons and helped the CBCF raise awareness at Toronto’s annual Pride Parade.

Along with other award nominees, our student volunteers will be feted at the Fairmount Royal York Hotel on April 6th, 2014 and showcased in the event’s Nominee Gallery.

The School of Continuing Studies is extremely proud of the efforts of its students and wishes them the best of luck with this nomination.
