Protecting Student’s Privacy in Class
Location: TBA
Do you normally circulate an attendance sheet with student name, numbers etc during classes to collect attendance? Do you handout marked assigned or exam papers during classes with student’s evaluation on the front page that other students may see? Do you send email to the entire class, with everyone’s email addresses show for all recipients? If you do, you may be surprise to find out you are actually in violation of FIPPA the Ontario privacy legislation for universities and colleges.
This seminar provides you with the essential understanding of privacy right in your classroom, and best practices for student-instructor interactions in the context of reasonable privacy expectations. Most importantly, ways you should do, so you will not be in violation of privacy laws.
