Farsi or Persian is the main language of Iran and is a significant language in Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Bahrain, Iraq, Armenia, India, and parts of southern Russia. With nearly 200 million speakers worldwide, and a rich literary heritage, it was selected as an official language for UNESCO.
