Arabic
Egyptian Colloquial Arabic is the most widely spoken and understood dialect among the Arab countries. Its linguistic structures and vocabulary are simpler than those of the more formal, written Modern Standard Arabic, making it an appropriate starting point for learning Arabic of either variety. This program presents the basics mainly through transliteration, although the Arabic script is taught in Modern Standard Arabic for Beginners, and in Colloquial Arabic from Level II on. It also introduces you to the customs of the Arab world.
