This new certificate by the School of Continuing Studies provides the adult learner who has adequate programming knowledge of C++ and Java with comprehensive understanding, knowledge and competencies to develop mobile business applications on the following platforms; iOS for the iPhone, iPad, and the iPod Touch, as well as applications for Android devices.

Our Instructors
Miguel Vargas Martin is a licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario and holds a PhD. in Computer Science, a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, and a Bachelor of Computer Science. He has reported his work in over fifty journals, book chapters, conference papers, and technical reports, and so far has supervised over 20 students at the graduate and undergraduate level. He was a co-editor of IGI Global’s “Technology for Facilitating Humanity and Combating Social Deviations: Interdisciplinary Perspectives.” His research focuses on two domains. First, he works in the area of providing security mechanisms to protect network communications. Under this umbrella, his major fields include intrusion detection and mitigation of disruptive traffic, biometrics authentication, and technical approaches for fighting Internet child exploitation. A second research domain is the optimization of websites.
Patrick Hung has worked with Boeing Research and Technology (Seattle, USA) and Bell Canada on security and privacy related research projects. He has filed two US patent applications on “Mobile Network Dynamic Workflow Exception Handling System.” Patrick was a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science in the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and a Research Scientist with Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) at Canberra in Australia. He also has prior industrial experience in e-business projects in USA, Canada and Hong Kong. He is a founding member of the IEEE International Conference of Web Services (ICWS) and IEEE International Conference on Services Computing (SCC). He is an associate editor of IEEE Transactions on Services Computing, International Journal of Web Services Research and International Journal of Business Process and Integration Management.
