Certificate in Management Accountant Fundamentals
Recognized by the Certified Management Accountants (CMA) as one of its registered education providers, the University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies is pleased to announce a new Certificate program specifically designed for people wanting to:
- integrate solid accounting expertise with advanced management skills and/or
- prepare for the CMA Entrance Exam leading to the CMA designation.
From the CMA approved courses, you will gain a comprehensive knowledge base including the “hard” skills of finance and accounting management, and the crucial organizational management and decision-making skills necessary for long term management success at home and abroad. As you progress towards the CMA, this Certificate recognizes your completion of the four core CMA courses.
Certificate Requirements
The Certificate requires the successful completion of four courses.

Notes: Students have three years from the start date of their first course to complete the Certificate.
Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) may be granted for one course.
Preparing for the CMA Entrance Exam
For those wanting to prepare for the CMA entrance exam proceed with in one of two ways:
- Complete the 7 month accelerated program offered by the CMA (held every Saturday) or
- Complete 13 courses (listed below) in addition to the four core courses completed for the Management Accountant Fundamentals Certificate (noted above).
