About the Credit Union Institute of Canada.
  • The Credit Union Institute of Canada (CUIC) is the designation and accreditation body within the Canadian Credit Union Association (CCUA).
  • CUIC® courses and programs are available through CCUA to individuals working in the credit union industry.
  • Since 2004, close to 700 credit union professionals have earned the designation Fellow of the Credit Union Institute of Canada (FCUIC), and over 250 have earned the more senior designation, Associate of the Credit Union Institute of Canada (ACUIC).

Association’s Requirements for Certifications
Candidates to become FCUIC certified must meet all of the following requirements:

  1. Demonstrate the equivalent of 2 years full-time experience in the co-operative financial services industry.
  2. Take eight general business courses, one credit union-specific course.

After meeting both the academic and experience requirements, candidates will be awarded the designation Fellow of Credit Union Institute of Canada (FCUIC)

Association’s Requirements for Certifications
Candidates to become ACUIC certified must meet all of the following requirements:

  1. Demonstrate the equivalent of five full-time years’ experience in the financial services industry with the last 2 within the cooperative financial services industry.
  2. Take six general business courses

  • CUC-315 Strategic Management for Credit Union Professionals (cohort only)
