The Alberta Insurance Council (AIC) is the provincial regulatory body responsible for the licensing and professional regulation of Alberta’s insurance agents, brokers and adjusters. The AIC and the affiliated industry-specific councils (the “Life Insurance Council”, the “General Insurance Council” and the “Insurance Adjuster’s Council”, collectively the “Councils”) are established under the Insurance Act and are made up of elected intermediaries, industry appointments and public appointments. The Councils work in the public interest to ensure that insurance agents and adjusters operate at the highest standards.

The Alberta Insurance Council is the financial arm of the Councils and provides investigation and administrative services to the Councils. The Alberta Insurance Council also provides administrative services to the Continuing Education Accreditation Committee appointed by the Minister of Finance.
